Unlike film-forming stains such as those commonly purchased at home improvement centers, our stains penetrate into the wood for superior durability and uniform color treatment. One of the benefits of our stains is that our stains gently fade over time - they do NOT chip, flake or peel, like many others
do. More good news about our stains is that when it's time to re-stain your deck, you don't have the hassle of removing the old stain. Simply wash, dry, and re-apply!
Our manufacturers give a performance expectation of two to four years on horizontal surfaces and, as a general rule, vertical surfaces will hold their color twice as long. However, there are many factors that influence the longevity of stains on wood, including surface preparation and the age of the wood (new wood will have a tighter grain structure and will need more frequent re-application for the first few years). Also lighter colored stains will require more frequent re-coating than darker colors.
For the facts about the color retention of stains, go to our FAQ section for more information.
Here are the stain colors we offer. The final color on your wood will be somewhat different from this palette, but this gives you an idea of the wide variety of color choices we have. These same colors are also available in a special formulation for redwood decks.
